Job Description
Director of Product Development & HW Eng'g for an internal provider of atmospheric equipment front ends comprised of robots, control system, mechanical sub systems (end effectors, power systems, etc.) Responsible for program management & PLC leadership, managing a multi-disciplinary eng'g team & coordinating a cross-functional business teams to develop product. Together with the Prod Mktg Mgr & the Dir of SW Eng'g, the individual in this position will have responsibility for planning, development, quality & reliability of the ASD atmospheric wafer handling products. The core product is automation & handling systems to support wafer handling and fabrication. The product lines incorporates a variety of eng'g disciplines including SW, electrical controls, and mechanical. This position has direct reports from each of these disciplines. Overall development areas include the continuous improvement of the current products, performance enhancements, next generation handling systems & automation features.

Desired Qualifications
BS/MS/PhD in electrical, mechanical, or combination of electro-mechanical. Strong background in systems, electrical or mechanical eng'g. Work experience at the system level, preferably automation, robotics, real time control systems in the semiconductor capital equipment industry is desirable. Experience as a program manager and project leader for a major product development is a requirement. Semiconductor Capital Equipment experience desirable, particularly in rapid prototype and product launching. System Eng'g skills are a must to be able to trade-off technical solutions. Experience in managing reliability and quality in conjunction with complex systems eng'g is highly desirable. Ability to manage technical and project development including project engineering managers, systems engineering, hardware and reliability engineering. Ability to lead a multi disciplinary team (SW & HW eng). Heavy interactions with company exec mgmt and internal division engineers, and marketing. Ability to manage intense deadline, make key decisions and negotiate in key situations. Must have strong leadership skills. Heavy internal customer interaction is frequently engaged in escalations and technical resolution of field issues. Previous experience as Director of Eng'g or Prod Development and as a program mgr. is important. Ability to drive technical development of the next generation SW/HW products. This includes requirements to design, design to new product introduction and transitioned to manufacturing.
