Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering, the Senior Systems Design Engineer is responsible for the development of critical subsystems, system integration and system performance of industry leading semiconductor, data storage and MEMS capital equipment. This position is part of a core systems engineering team of highly qualified experts.
Specific Deliverables associated with this opportunity include:
- Create Detailed Engineering Requirements Documents based on marketing requirements. Assist PM in negotiate engineering response to marketing requirements resulting in focused plans for a new product, feature or enhancement.
- Work with Operations from the early stage of each development to take both manufacturing and service requirements into account in project plans.
- Assist in the sustaining of existing products in customer escalations. Interact with and understand customers and their needs.
- Work with management to ensure a robust platform and development process. Promote the re-use of components and designs between product lines and efficient use of engineering resources.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position is a highly qualified systems expert, with prior experience in the development and deployment of leading edge systems for semiconductor, data storage or MEMS capital equipment or related systems. Specific position requirements include:
- Master's degree in EE, Physics, CS/CE or related technical discipline. Preference for Ph.D in a related technical discipline.
- 6+ years experience in subsystem and/or system design for complex capital equipment or related systems.
- Must have knowledge of semiconductor process technology or related wafer-based process technology and the systems and process used in semiconductor or related wafer-based process manufacturing.
- Ability to work in complex engineering programs and to understand the technology associated with: high-vacuum design; imaging technologies; ion or electron beam subsystems; autoloaders; stages and motion subsystems; factory automation, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to calculate system error budgets based on product specifications.
- Proven experience in systems and sub systems developments and designs. This should include experience from several full product life cycles.
- Ability to analyze how key sub systems can be used in any next generation products and prior experience with design reuse methodologies.
- Must have good interpersonal communications skills. An ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences is critical to success in this position due to cross-functional dependencies.
- Must have ability to obtain a valid passport and be able and willing to travel internationally to customers and world wide development sites as required.
